I'm using a new oem ford cable, fiore quadrant and firewall adjuster. All this and a new Fidanza 2.1 clutch too.

If I screw the firewall adjuster in so the fork has some slack and the TOB is off the fingers ... the engagement is literally right off the floor, as soon as i raise my foot the car is moving. And it is difficult getting it into gear.

So when I screw it out, engagement is further out when I raise my foot, getting it in gear is fine but now the TOB is contacting the fingers... (this is how I have it set now so I can at least drive it normally)

There is no room in adjustment between TOB off the fingers and engagement right off the floor...

Did you guys find it to be like this???

How can I fix it so the TOB is off the pp fingers and still have engagement at a decent point off the floor which would also make it easier to put into gear??

Am I wrong thinking that a firewall adjuster does the same thing as a adjustable cable and double/triple hook quadrant?

I tried driving it into work today and the clutch started getting hard to push here and there, then more so. All I can think is the TOB being in slight contact with the pp fingers are making it heat up, seize up either on the shaft or against the fingers. So I eased it home and trying to figure out what is going wrong before I have the tranny taken out again.

The way I see it is like this... the TOB must be off the fingers so the fork has to be at a set place. When I'm pressing the clutch pedal it is a fixed range of movement. So how do I get more movement from the clutch pedal so I can change the engagement to where I need it to be?

I have the same adj/quadrant set as well as an OEM cable. I have it set so there is about an inch (or maybe a little more) clutch freeplay. Works very well and has been trouble free for 4 yrs now. Seems like there is a good inch of thread showing at the firewall adjuster.

Pretty much the same with my MM Quadrant/Adjuster.

My only thoughts are that the OEM clutch cable might not be properly modified for the adjuster?

This is entirely possible. My Fiore pieces came with an instruction sheet to modify the OEM cable. Seems I also printed out one from MM's site as well. They were a little clearer.

Wasn't it just the removal of a plastic ring w/ 4 prongs on it??

just a question for ya, how far does your peddle come off the floor before it starts to engage?
