yes it does. I have full control of the ipod. It doesn't do video though. Not a big deal on that though. Its a super simple interface. But easy to read because it uses the TOMTOM style. I just plug in the IPOD in the glovebox and forget out it. I have about 13gigs of music and it loads instantly. The only caveat I have its that it doesn't pick up where you left off. It starts at the beginging of your playlist. But thats not a deal killer for me since I have it on shuffle all the time and just select the next song and listen to whatever comes up.

Yeah, that's more or less what I was planning on. I always leave mine on shuffle, pretty much. Plus I'll be stealing-erm...BORROWING my wife's 60gig ipod so I'll probably have my whole playlist at my command...that might be an option if I can't get a good deal on the pioneer somewhere...

If your using the TOMTOM for directions, can you also listen to music through the iPod?

yeah, it will actually mute the driver speaker and tell you the directions. Bluetooth calls will come in and mute the whole system. You can't use the IPOD unless the TOMTOM is docked. Same with the USB thumbdrive. But I never undock mine. It does come with an external GPS receiver inaddition to the one built into the TOMTOM. The thumb drive is a bit slower, it has to scan the drive for songs. I used that for a while until I got the Ipod. But the IPOD is instant, the deck is easy to find. But the IPOD cable, it was $30 from crutchfield. Its kinda harder to find. And it does charge the ipod while it is in your car.

Thats an Eclipse??? I thought it was a Blaupunk. Looks like an old 80's double din. Guess it just looks real bulky with that knob.

my shifter is made by UPR. it's a nice piece, though they said that installation can be done easily...

the alan wrench they included with the shifter to take off the old one wasn't even the correct size! it took like hours to get the thing on.
