Hey all, just wondering what happens if you remove the complete air pump set up on a 89 stang? I want to clean up the engine compartment and all the extra stuff looks cluttered. Does this cause problems to remove the set up? Will there be codes or mistereous drivability problems? My car runs with an off road bbk h pipe. I am trying to detail the engine compartment and just want all the extras to dissappear. I don't need a smog test but I will keep everything around in case it needs to be tested. Thanks.

If you have an offroad pipe like you say, you can completely remove it, and use a shorter belt.

Make sure you plug all the left over holes.
There is a tube that goes from head to head int he back, also can be removed and plugged with ford head plugs, but it's a bitch with the engine in the car.

Don't do the smog delete pulley, on a fox it still looks a bit cluttered. Plus there really is no reason to.

Belt size with Underdrive pulleys is going to be somewhere around 765 k6, but i'm not totally sure, it's worn off my belt.

My x pipe had a rubber tube coming off of it, i stuffed something round in it, and pipe clamped it.

Your ford dealer has the plugs to plug the heads, they are a regular for part, and most dealers stock them, I don't know the part numbers offhand.

I belive it's the lenght in inches, which would be 76.5 inches and k6 for 6 rib.

O.k. I got it torn down and I found that the hole in the back of the heads should be a 1/4 pipe thread. Now I just need a belt!
