Hey guys, went to take the air silencer off the Stang and all I see is a hard plastic inlet tube that begins behind the headlight and curves up into my air filter box.

From what I understand its supposed to be a rubber boot that just pulls out of the fenderwell. Didn't see rubber just a hard plastic. It's an 88GT Speed density. Thanks in advance.

I took mine off of my first 89 and my 88.. they are completely useless and just restrict air flow - not to say that taking it off will give you more than .01 rwhp, but it's still just something that you SHOULD do. It takes some fancy twisting the get it around the fog lamp/bumper cover/tire or whatever else may get in your way, but get that piece of crap off your ride when you get a chance... JMO

There are three nuts under the airbox that need to come off before it can be removed. It's a proven mod and has been for years. Not talked about much anymore because most of them are gone now!

Yep, found the 3 nuts and also the one in the drivers seat. Found the silencer , pulled it , gone, difference? ......none noticed. Oh, well, I'm silencer free now!

Dyno proven 5 or so HP on an 87-93... and it sounds great to boot! Don't throw it out though--resto guys will be paying big bucks for those in the future because they'll be so hard to find!
