On my 94 cobra is there any benifit to removing the air silencer and does anyone have a picture of were it is located and what it looks like? My buddy told me i should remove it.I dotn know jack about mustangs . If i remove it what is it goign to do for me?any negatives to removing it thanks guys

I left mine on to scared to take it off had A bad expirence on a old car whater in the engine from cai I dont think it is worth it for a little hp gain mine is staying on

take that thing off it isn't going to hurt anything...it will NOTt let water in where it shouldn't be....that's the first mod that should be done to ANY mustang....i haven't done it in a while,so i can't remember exactly..just take your airbox off and there's just 2 bolts holding it on...take out the bolts remove it and place it in the trash...

yeah its fine to take it off , it was one of the first things I did to mine it dosent hurt anything. Its that rubber peice inside of the air box that goes into the fender well, this mod is best done when putting on a better filter such as a K&N.

oh ok it just keeps water out of the filter. so u gain like 2 or 3 hp removing it?silencer does that mean the motor will have more noise from it after removal.. sorry for all the dumb questions.

yes it will make it a little louder especially if you add a k&n...but it is a nice sound you will like it

It basically draws air from inside the fender, instead of under hood. If you look at it, it could be considered a small restriction, vs opening size of air box. Definately take it off. after you remove the clamps, just firmly pull up on the air box, it is held down underneath by a couple of rubber grommets, but will come off, and go back in fine. I noticed a little change in exhaust, felt a little something in the power dept, and if the hood is up, you can hear it sucking in air. and add a k&n or cold air while your at it, but start with the snorkel.

maybe its just me, but i hate the sound of when i removed my air silencer, even more now that i've put on a fenderwell CAI, sounds too much like whistling when its breazy out and the windows are cracker... not exactly mean sounding, and with the fenderwell intake, it just echoes in my passenger side, my honest opinion... your car sounds cheaper after taking it out, but seriously this is just MY opinion and you should just give it a try... if you like it great, and if not, put her back in...

i just took mine out today, unhook the 2 clamps, take out the bolt holding it to the fender, u need to kinda wiggle the cylindrical thingy to get it out, i just reefed on mine and it found its way out, i didnt notice any difference in sound or performance

When I first bought my car, I took it over to show my brother and nephew and the first thing my nephew did was wrench that thing out! Just about scared me to death as he zinged it across the yard ! :rlaugh:

I ran over, grabbed it and threw it in the trunk ! I never get rid of any car parts! :D

They just laughed at me. My family is pretty hard core Mustang ...
