:D

I keep reading that this is one of the first things a lot of people did to their stangs.

What does it do and does it hurt anything to remove it? What will I gain by removing it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's what connects the air intake globe to the fender well. It's a rubber snorkle that draws air from the fender. You can either trim it or remove it completly. It basicaly allows your intake to suck more air in. It takes all of 1 min to do. Just pull it out.

It's a little rubber horn looking thing that is attached to your air box. Follow the air intake off the plenum toward the front of your car just behind the passenger side headlight. Simply unscrew the little bolt that is attaching the air box to the fenderwall, remove the airbox, bend the lip of the rubber boot in and pull...viola, it's off.

Removing it will not hurt your car at all...the only potential downside (if you view it that way) is that it makes your intake slightly louder, which I think is a good thing.

By removing it you will improve the airflow to your intake which will theoretically improve horsepower by some nominal ammount.

However, you'll probably lose a small amount of low-end torque if you take it out. So high-end HP vs. low-end torque...choose which you prefer more. :)

I just pulled mine out. Didn't unscrew didly.....

dont even mess with it there are no noticeable gains. In fact you will loose low end torque. I tried it, then put it back in. It is a useless mod. Dont waste your time.
