alarm broken?

i left my lights on last night and the battery died, so i jumped it. well now my alarm doesn't make the arm/disarm chirp and the LED on the dash stays continuously on. everything else works normal. what's up with that? not sure if it's aftermarket or not. it's an old CARR system though.

find the valet button and try resetting the alarm like you would if you accidentally set it off

The valet button location is chosen by the installer. I suppose if you know where the brain is, you can trace the valet wires from the side of the alarm brain to the switch. But if you don't know if the alarm is OEM or aftermarket, you probably dont know where the brain is.

In such a case, I'd disconnect the siren/horn (whatever makes noise) so you can set the alarm off, and listen for relays clicking. Trace the relay noise to the brain.
