well guys, I've had my mustang on the road for a week, and it was broken into and vandalized....yes it's true. They bypassed my locked driver side door like nothing, opened it and stole both the passenger and driver side airbags. In the process apparantly they messed up some behind the dash stuff and instrument panel. It's $4000 in damage at the body shop....my insurance is covering.

anyways, this happened in broad daylight in a parking lot of a very well known large corporation that is supposed to have "security"

On to the point. I know nothing about car alarm systems, or what I should look into and was hoping somebody could give me a good opinion / input on an alarm system for my mustang that might prevent this sort of thing from happening again. The ones I have seen online are more for actual theft of the vehicle

The whole DEI line is good, Viper, Python, Hornet. I agree without the pager the alarm can be going off and if no one hears it or does anything its useless. I like my Python, but I mainly got mine for the keyless entry. FYI The Viper is a professional only installed system. You can not buy it and put it in yourself, only certified places can install it. $200-$300, check out http://www.directed.com/security/default.asp for all their systems.

well thank you for the replies. I talked to a mechanic friend of mine and he said mustang airbags are big on the black market right now, because they are $700 a piece brand new and stolen they can get 3 or 4 hundred a piece for them....I will invest in one of the systems recommended, $300 is WELL worth it, considering it's costing me $500 deductible and it was $4000 worth of damage (replaced steering wheel, instrument panel, both airbags, lock cylinder, and bump out a dent)

Thanks!
