What kind of rebuild did you have done and what did you pay if you don't mind me asking.

I want to get my 5.slow rebuild next fall and I am looking for budget options.

Glad to hear you are happy!

Congrats, but never think too much of it until you get solid numbers. Hate to see someone get disappointed expecting a number, and not getting it.

Now go out and drive it more.

Or be like me and run side by side with cars on the street that are a second faster than you at the track......then you're like WTF????? :rlaugh:

i rebuilt it
like 700$
new cam
new crank (mine was screwed)
new balancer(mine spun and the dude before me drove it till it blew)thats why
arp rod bolts
new gaskets
new bearings
cam bearings
new rings
new lifters
new oil pump
new freeze plugs
water pump
timing chain
(i did all work including honeing/cleaning/installing cam bearings and freeze plugs)

might be worth the money for a shortblock if you cant do the work and or your engine has a bad/worn cylinder and needes bored..

Thanks for the info. :nice:

Yep, that's my plan. Hopefully within the next year, maybe 2.\

I was mostly just looking for a parts budget and what it costs to get the machining done.

i just got done rebuilding mine a couple months back. it was $450 to get my block vatted, bored .040, new cam bearings installed (i bought and supplied them to the machine shop) new brass freeze plugs, line honed, crank turned 10/10. the rest of the work was done by me. i bought moly rings, complete felpro gasket set, clevite main and rod bearings, re-used my factory cam and lifters (lifters had less than 10k on em), ross forged pistons out of a motor with less than 10k, new timing chain, new oil pump, new waterpump, some other new stuff, estimated probably a little over a grand for everything. i'm sure i'm missing some stuff though.
