You know, those sheets of sound proofing material that's stuck to the floor boards. I removed one corner of the stuff and it weighed 5 pounds!!! I would guess there is 50 pounds or more of it in total. Anyone remove this?
I use a propane torche to heat it up and scrape it off. Oh well I'm collecting all the crap and will weigh it all once I'm done to let you know how much weight I will be saving.

I will use some truck bed liner paint for the floor boards (foot area) and regular paint for the other parts. Not sure how much of the interior is actually going to be put back in One thing for sure I will have more details about weight saving, not just guess work. I don't believe you can save 200lb from just removing the carpet and back seats (from what some of my friends are telling me).

I took out my rear seat and my mechanic said all that sound proofing black hard rubbery s h i t weigsh 45 lbs.

im in the process of removing all that crap from the hatch area in my car. makes it a little louder inside...but i dont care. definetly weighs a lot.

I removed the tar stuff in my Tbird last month. I used a heat gun, and putty knife. Make sure to wear a glove on the hand that the putty knife is used with, or you will have some serious blisters. I weighed the bucket of it when done, and had 35 lbs. I had already removed the trunk floor when I installed the fuel cell, so would of been about 45-50 total.

I weighed all the sound deadender and tar from that came out of my notch, and it was 52 LB, most of it being the tar. Taking all of the tar and deadener out of a hatch will weigh more because of the floor area in the hatch being covered, and more sound deadening material behind the side/speaker panels in the hatch area.....

Actually for the heck of it.. some other stuff I weughed a few years ago from my car..

Front sway bar - 22 LB
Damper from rear end - 8 LB
Smog pump and hardware - 8 LB
Above sound deadener and tar - 52 LB
Spare tire and jack - 40 LB
Front Weld Drag lites, skinny w/ rubber [both] - 30 LBs lighter than stock 10 holes
Rear Weld Draglites [both] - 16 LBs lighter than stock 10 holes
Front bumper insert and struts - 24 LB

That was according to my bathroom scale anyways. Had a buddy get on, then would slowly hand him a part and record the weight diff

I did the floor on my 89, I found by using a flat-head and hammer it was easy enough to peel off the sticky crap. It comes off in sections and chunks, and reminds me of the type of stuff used in roofing shingles. Why Ford decided on this is beyond me....
