all you ped mount rocker guys may want to see this

just wondering if anyone is running these or knows a buddy that is running a set. i found them on steeda's site, they are made by yella terra and are 1.72 ratio. they seem pretty good to me and aren't near as expensive as a stud mount conversion, but do they perform????????

Last I checked those where something like $325. Which would probably be more than going stud mount. I figure the machine work to go stud mount would be less than $100.

but then you have to buy studs, guide plates, rockers, i priced out stud machine work on my old gt40's at $250(friend price) machine work.

Ahh. I thought all that came with the rockers. That's crazy on the machine work. I couldn't imagine that it would cost more than a valve job.

Still, I remember thinking the price on those rockers was pretty decent considering they are adjustable and semi-shaft mount.

that's kinda what i am thinkin.

the machine work is pricey cuz you gotta mill down the pedastal pads then drill out the holes and retap--big pita.

i am just running the crane cobra style ped roller rockers, i bet most people dont want to spend over 180.

that is what i am running also, but i am just curious how they would compare to a stud mount style. if they do it would be worth the money to do these instead of going through the hassle of converting. mine are starting to get some miles on them and i am getting a new shortblock here soon and want to replace all my high miles stuff.

I had two of my Crane cobra 1.7's go bad. Wish I had seen the steeda ad before i replaced them. The adj feature is sweet. Playing with shims sucks.

The kind of failures that allowed exploded bits of rocker to get down in the motor.

I'd do a search on the various boards and see what you turn up.

I just somehow sense a red flag of caution here

It was the words "yella terra" that caught my eye.

The rockers you are talking about may not be the same as I mentioned as you did say those were made by yella terra.

Those rr's do look beefy in the pic you posted

In no way did I want to be the bearer of bad news

Again ...... 10 minutes of search research ain't too bad of a price to pay for peace of mind

I would say so Harland Sharp were the first to come out with roller rockers very good quality

a little update on the subject at hand here.

steeda no longer carries that rocker setup, stating lack of interest, there was no comment made about durability.

i e-mailed yella terra and inquired about price and was quoted aussie dollars and told i would have to find a retailer in america to buy--none found.

harland sharp shaft setup is roughly $550.

crane makes a shaft setup as well(very expensive) and states that a shaft setup for ped mount heads are a minor improvement over stud mount.

so it appears that if i can find a yella terrra retailer i will buy, if not then i will go harland sharp. unless i buy some diff heads.
