Allignment shop mistake

hey guys!
just wanna warn u guys about what happened to me yesterday... i whent in to get my car realligned... my car is pretty slammed... but the idiot who was driving my car on the rack didnt take the necesarry precautions and cracked my bumber pretty bad on both corners. the bumper needs to be replaced... and a two plastic pieces under the hood where broken too by the impact. so far thats the only damage visible but the ramps pushed the bumper up pretty hard... i got two estimates today... both right around 1500... just wanna let u guys know... when u guys are taking the lowered stangs in to get em alligned.. let the guys know to be carefull when driving em up on the rack... they told me to get three estimates and bring em in... they should basically write me a check at that point for the amount to fix the car...

Getting alignments on lowered cars does really suck. I stuck around to help the shop get my car on the alignment ramps before I left. We ended up having to take my side exhaust tips off to get it up the ramps. My friend had a similar situation as you did. He took his lowered camaro to a local chevy dealership to have it aligned and they ended up chipping a large area of chromolusion paint off his front bumper. They refused to pay for the repaint claiming that they didn't do it although it was obvious by looking at the alignment rack.

yea that really blows... did they end up paying?

the two shops that i took my car to, said they think their will be more damage when they take the bumper off so i am scared that if the allignment place cuts me a check... and then the body shop takes of the bumper and sees that more stuff needs to be done... i am going to be stuck with the extra expenses....

No, the Chevy dealership never did pay for their mistake.:nonono: It wasn't as much damage as yours, but atleast they're paying for yours.

Can you get the body shop to do the work and then give the alignment shop the bill afterwards so you make sure you get paid for all of it? Also if you're bumper got pushed up hard it may have cracked the headlight bracket behind the bumper. Good luck

I agree ask the body shop if they can take care of it NOW and bill the other guys so your not playing the MIDDLE man...with you as the go between guy..if there is more damage and you have already excepted a check, your screwd' and youll pay the differnce....really think about it, it will save you some headach in the end if you stay out of the WHOL DEAL !

dont have them write you a check, instead get an estimate from a place YOU want to go and work it out so that the bill goes to the alignment shop. if you settle for the cheapest place around because thats what they want to pay, you could end up at the worst of the 3 places and not get a good job done. plus, like it was said, once they get their hands dirty, their could be more damage, and also new saleen parts arent cheap.....no, wait, leave that last part out.

at my shop we made some ramps like really really long v's to drive up the lowered cars with body kits, also the guy driving it on the hoist will have another watching to make sure there is room to get it on there... not one damaged yet... It seems like the other people don't care. I'd be pissed.

we went to WyoTech the other day for my vo-tech and saw them driving a black WRX on the one lift, and the lift even had longer than usual ramps and they still had to put a 2x4 behind the rear wheels to keep from rubbing...and it still rubbed, lol..i was going to align mine in vo-tech but now im unsure about getting it on the lift..

the guys at the allignment shop said that they could just keep the car and get it fixed themselves... obviously i strongly objected... i mean look at what happened last time they drove my car...
ofcoarse i dont want to have to pay for this outta pocket if more damage is found... but i was thinking if i could get it fixed and still have money left over... it would be awesome... technichaly cosmetically the only thing that needs replacing/painting is the bumper and the other stuff shouldnt be big things; nothing to do with safety or anything... ofcoarse on the other hand.. i want it fixed really well but if i can have a few hundred bucks left to put back into all this.. it would be great... one of the shops for instance charges $85 per hour for labor... but if u have tripple a discount its 20 or so $ cheaper so that might be a super easy way to save a buck... any ideas or experiences as to how to go about this? they are also giving me a rental.. wich i prolly wont even be able to drive because i am only 19 so one of my parents will have to drive it... so all in all... after this whole pain in the ass and crappy experience.. i better be able to do at least something nice for my car...
btw... i am not too big on appearance so i wont really be looking for after market bumpers etc...

RENTAL....Yes you can drive it, if its in lue of your insurance you can, you have to leave a 250-500 $$ deposit cause of your age but you can rent the car no prob, it will be a S**T focus or something..(GRLFRIEND works for enterprise, i asked her about it when I read you post)

place i go to has a lift in the floor, u drive up and it comes outta the floor to pick up ur car to machine height. its cool. was installed for lowered rides..

see the technology is out their... yet alot of these ****ty shops dont implement it... i am sure its because of financial reasons lol....

regarding the rental though... we will see i think i might just play dumb and pretend like i dont know that they cant give me a car and then when they say something.. i will be complain and try to get em to give me one... its hella dumb i drive a gt and they think i am gonna be ****in around in some ****ty ass economy car... what idiots...
