Guys,

I'm pretty excited at this point. Everything is almost coming together. Here are a few pics of the motor before it goes in on Monday/Tuesday. It's been one thing after the other up to this point. The car has not run since May 7th! So, it looks like earlier next week we'll see if she has a life of her own.

Here's what we've done: Forged rods (I-Beam) & Pistons (10.5cc dish), GT crank, billet oil pump gears (Cobra pump) and crank trigger, Canton windage tray, p & p heads, VT blower cams, comp springs, new clutch/flywheel, ARP head studs & various other ARP bolts, so on and so forth.

I can't wait to fire it up the first time!

Looks great... What brand pistons and rods are they? And why didnt you go with a cobra crank?

They're all Probe components. My goal is to make somewhere in the high 400's - GT crank should be good to around 500 RWHP. It is also lighter than the cobra crank.

Basically, it also came down to finances. This project came on unexpected, so money definitely played a role in the process. We found some rod bearing material in the oil of the old block.

I am building a motor... I got the -18.1 CC dished probe pistons, H beam rods with ARP 2000 upgrade, Block came bored out 30 over with the probe pistons but stock crank and rods, and I bought a cobra crank. I got all of that for Like a grand maybe a little less and that is shipped! I also have stage 3 P&P PI heads that came with SHM blower cams for 850 shipped only 800 miles... I need to get mine balanced and I think I am going with better valve springs and valves for the PI heads...

Sounds good. Out of curiousity, why .030" over? I know that's pretty much the max on the modulars, just wondering. Valve springs are a must with any kind of high lift cam. The comps seem to be the best. Good luck with your build up!

I went with 30 over just because it was cheap... I got a windsor block completely fresh bored out 30 over and it had the pistons in it... NO MILES on pistons! It has stock rods and crank too... I got it shipped from california for like 560 bucks... Thats how much the pistons are alone... Its from TMD they hooked me up with the rods for 301 shipped... and crank was like 225 shipped... Som im a little over a grand on a shortblock that will handle abuse! Cant beat the price!

Looks badass, why are you using shorty headers though?

They were already on the car - the whole project came as a surprise so I really didn't want to spend the extra on lt's and a shorty x. I know it would be easier out of the car, but I wanted to drop everything I could into motor work - stuff I absolutely couldn't get to without tearing it apart. I can always switch to lt's down the road.

Nice work and I am curious and well on the #'s you are going to run. You are supercharging right since you got the VT blower cams. Just curious supercharged the stang would be a beast, not that she isn't now.

Thanks! As soon as my finances recover from this project I am looking at the blower - most likely a Novi 2000 (hopefully w/ air to air intercooler). That's the plan. I think she'll hang on the low end with this set-up and once the boost kicks in - wwweeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
