Had an order in for a 2012 GT Premium CS in Grabber Blue, 6 speed manual - then I heard, read, and verified all the horror stories about the problems with the manual transmissions.

But what made me even more disturbed and the reason I cancelled the order was when I found out the tranny was designed by Getrag in Germany but BUILT IN C H I N A ...

Huh, and their wondering why there's problems - a superb engine hooked up to a Wal-Mart transmission, that was it for me. Cancelled my order, getting back my deposit and not looking back.

What made it worse was - when I called the salesliar and told him I was cancelling my order he pretended he knew nothing about it. I told him to google it and call me back troll calls back and says, "I found nothing about it on the Internet, and my service manager knows nothing about it"

This is the kind of service I would have gotten - a service manager that's denying that there was/is a TSB recall on the clutch and all kinds of grinding, missing and slipping of gears going on all over the Country from thousands of owners theres an action pending with the NTSB about this very topic.

I'm done with American junk with Chinese parts. The only friggin cars you can trust that are going to be free of Chinese drive train junk are the big three Germans, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW -

See ya' Ford - Hello BMW...!!!

I'm not sure about all the tranny problems with the manual shifts, as I have an auto and don't follow the manual shift threads. But.....

Don't think for a second a Benz equals quality! My grandfather in-law has had multiple MB's and each one of them has spent its fair share of time in the shop. None of them have been great vehicles and its hard to find a good technician for the high end stuff.

With that said, I traded in a 2010 Lexus IS250 with 9000 miles on it for the Mustang. The Lexus had so many problems that I finally asked Lexus to buy it back and they were no help at all. When I first bought it, I thought I was buying the best quality car that was in my price range..... turns out I was wrong!

Moral of the story... everybody makes crap, some is just worse than others.

Am I the only one reading this who sees nothing but a troll post? His first post on a MUSTANG forum is "I didn't buy the Mustang because it is a piece of crap."

Could be ... but they are assembled in China, and there are problems.

No, you're not the only one. While I agree I don't like the idea of our manual 6 speeds built in China, you can't hardly buy anything that doesn't have egg roll tossed in it somewhere. That being said, I've not had any problems with my tranny. It shifts smooth, doesn't make grinding noises...hey, it makes no noise at all.

Thosands of people with Mustangs and this tranny having said problems doesn't register at all with me either. There are some on this board and else where who have had these problems but, not in any sugnificant degree. S*hit happens. We have the problems fixed and move on. I for one have had all American cars since my first one except for one. Guiess which one had the problem...

whats really dumb is that the great majority of the cars dont have problems. you could have just seen ten thousand perfectly fine wheels but the squeeky one is going to make the most noise. i wont lie and say the tranny thing isn't something i'm concerned about from a buyer's standpoint but for now it hasn't pushed me away from my plans to purchase a 2012 with a manual.
