Alt light came on...

So I am driving down the highway and the Alt light starts to flicker on and off until it stays on until I get home. So Itake a look and se that one of the smaller wires has come loose and came off the alternator. So i put it back on and check the rest of the wires just to make sure everything is OK. Well the Alt light is still on and I have driven quite a bit and haven't felt any loss in juice and that is that I have the petronix conversion kit, hot coil, and plugs.

Where is the switch that activates the Alt light? Can it get stuck? Or is something up with my Alternator, even though it is only 6 months old.

You need a meter to see if it charging, look for a short in the wires that go to the regulator, check that the regulator plug isnt falling out. The light comes on when it gets grounded. if the alt blows a diode the light will come on to but might still charge but not full. I would check for a charge first.

You don't need a meter to see if it's charging, just crank it up then remove the positive cable from the battery, if the engine dies, the alternator isn't working.

I had an alternator go bad (one of the 6 diodes failed) and the first indication I had was the alt light came on. Most of the auto parts stores will test alternators for free for you. My alt still worked, just at a reduced voltage - not enough to charge battery.

Ok, so this is what is going on now.

When i turn on the car the alt light comes on, I drive around and when i come to a stop the light dims really low. then when i press the accelerator it gets really bright.

I am going to go take the Alternator to the place i bought it and get it checked. I think i still got warranty. Its only 6 months old.
