Does anyone know where I can get an alternator bracket for a 5.0L that would mount the alternator to the Drive's side of the engine compartment? I am finalizing locations for everything and after the EFI intake,Mass air meter, Air filter, 3g alternator and radiator I am running out of room quickly. This is with plans to move the battery to the trunk. Space is at a premium on the passenger side whereas there is NOTHING on the driver's side.

I was really looking for something more functional than fancy looking. I have looked through their stuff and while it it looks good is too expensive for brackets.

The factory power steering and AC units are usually on the driver's side IIRC on 80's 5.0 Mustangs. Have you looked at the factory bracket for those parts to see if you can make it work? It's a steel part, so I would think it could be modified without too much trouble if necessary.

Otherwise, you could go to a junkyard and look at the cars there for ideas / parts. That's what I would do. I don't know if you're like me in that way or not. Heck, I go to the junkyard when I don't even need anything, just for the fun of it.

I have looked in the few junkyards we have around here and found nothing. Everything I have seen has been on the passenger side. Unfortunately we don't really have many junkyards that will allow you to wlak around and browse. We have "salvage yards" or "Auto Recyclers" where they throw away everything but the high dollar late model stuff

A lot of the yards around here are that way, too. I rarely go to them; they charge too much IMO. We have a couple yards that are exclusively customer pulls the parts - and they don't get desirable cars, but parts are cheap. We're talkin $150 for a complete engine assy or $95 for an over drive transmission.

Well if you are or anybody else is at a boneyard anytime soon keep your eyes open for a driver's side alternator bracket.

I had the opposite problem, my A/C and alternator were mounted on the Drivers side, along with the air filter. I used a crown vic as a donor which is why my air filter is on the driver's side. I'm moving the 3G alternator to the pass side. I'll look to see how the old alternator was mounted. I do remember I had to use a combination of 289 and late-model 302 parts.

If you can't find the right bracket, then just flip the intake around and run it crown vic style, all you need is the throttle body spacer, throttle cable bracket and cable. Possibly different valve covers depending on the location of the oil fill hole. These are much more common than mustang parts.
