I just swapped out the belts after removing the smog pump and A/C paperweights from the car. I tried to re-route the smaller belt using a routing that I thought would work. The problem is that now the alternator doesn't charge. WTF! Can these run in either direction and still charge, or are they one -way only? I didn't use any idler pulleys or anything else to replace the missing components, and I can't upload a picture to show the routing that I am using...any suggestions?
