I ordered a Ford Racing Aluminum Driveshaft to install with my 4.10's next weekend.
I have a 2001 GT with the T45 Tranny.
The install is supposed to be easy.
However, is the driveshaft all I need?
Do I reuse the stock yolk?

Comes with everything you need, just bolt in place.

Should be a simple bolt in operation. USE THE SEARCH function of this site and buy a drive shaft safety loop. Don't know what that is or where to get one use the search. Better yet look at the bottom of this thread for easy links.

This was one of the easiest mods I've done. Only problem is breaking the bolts loose. Have some one help. I had my dad hold the rear wheel while I loosened the bolts. I used a cheater bar slid on my rachet handle to get some leverage. Just turn the wheel to get each bolt at the 6 o'clock position. Makes it easier to get to and break loose.

I highly recommend a safety loop...u don't want that aluminium driveshaft to fly away..plus It's mandatory at the track I think..
That's what will take u most of the time...since u need to remove the seats/carpet to be able to bolt from the inside of the car that safety loop...

Why get an aluminum driveshaft? I have a few friends that had them and they didn't like them. If they got a really good hook with the slick they would twist the aluminum drive shaft or twist and break in two. They went with steel drive shafts after the aluminum.

at the

track down here you have to have drive shaft loop if you are running slicks and under 13 sec

The aluminum driveshaft reduces rotational mass, thus allowing your engine to rev faster.
This driveshaft is also 2 times stronger than the stock driveshaft!

It takes two people to change it out. If you don't, you're going to wear yourself out climbing from underneath your car every time you have to loosen and/or tighten the bolts. I used my emergency brake to hold the driveshaft still with an "unwilling wife"<--use a buddy instead!
