Taking the car in to swap out the rearend gears to 3.73's in my 01 automatic(I'm hoping it eat through the RPM's in the low end and still be good for highway use). Will there be any gain in performance from me picking up the Aluminum driveshaft for it and having them install that while they're opening up the rear end?

I can confirm that the FRPP aluminum driveshaft will fit an automatic transmission-equipped car if the yokes are swapped. I can't tell you if it made a difference, since I did what you're asking about (I put it on the same time as the gear swap). It can't hurt, though :)

I bought mine when they were cheap. They now skyrocketed in price due to scrap going up.

Anyways. I didn't notice anything. My superchraged Cobra ran the same times at the track, I didn't feel a difference. So IMO, it was a waste of money.

they are a nice add on if you have the extra coin for one reason and one reason only. they take alot of centrifical force off the rear end bearings. being they are lighter they are way easier on them therefore helping your rearend last longer. no performance gains at all really.

I'll spring for the extra $250 bucks for the driveshaft. I've heard it can drop 1/10 or 2/10 off the quarter mile. Any substantiation to this? Also, supposed to help out in xferring the engines power to the rear wheels (ie, reducing the drivetrain inefficiencies).

$250 isn't too bad, but i doubt that even if the D/S weighed 0 lbs it'd drop 2 tenths

The Driveshaft will fit your car you just have to swap yokes. And as far as sotp feel there is virtually non with an aluminum driveshaft but it does smooth out virtually all driveline vibrations if you have any which you will if you install gears and imo you should get it along with gears to prevent further problems down the road. like me..
