Aluminum heads worth it?

I was curious as to how much horsepower I may gain by going with some new heads. The cars a 93lx 5.0 which currently has the following. edelbrock 303 cam, 70mm throttle body, edelbrock performer intake, cai, headers and catback. I just got the car recently and was thinking about doing the heads and calling it a day for performance upgrades. Is the 1400ish worth it for some aluminum heads? where about should it put me in the HP range? A buddy of mine has a dynojet dyno at his shop but I haven't been able to make it by yet.

im not going to throw out a number of you'll pick up 50hp or 100hp...

i'll put it this way

unless your going to spray it. you wont make the HP per dollar any other way

Im aware of that but im not looking to spray it. The car is more of a weekend driver and not a drag car. I Know its not really a cheap hp per $ upgrade. I got the car for a great deal so I have the money left over that I had in my budget for the heads. If it should get me 30 to 40+ Id like to do it but if its like 25 or less It wouldn't be worth it to me.

I think you missed his point. He's saying that OTHER THAN spraying it, heads are the best bang for the buck.

Since you have most of the other supporting parts already in place, you should see a nice pickup in seat of the pants feel. I have very similar mods done to my car (see the link in my sig) and my car is putting down about 275 to the rear wheels.

If you haven't already done it, get a larger MAF meter on there. The tiny stocker will be choking it when you have your new heads.

You will likely gain 50+ hp and loose 50 lbs off the front wheels. Probably one of the best upgrades you can do for power and weight. Heads are the second largest restrictrion after the stock intake.

Well thats good to hear cause its going in the shop Wednesday morning. Is there any certain break in on a new set of heads? Its also getting a new maf meter and injectors and thats all im looking for to have it how I want it. I haven't had a mustang in about 10 years. Last 2 were a 68 fastback and a 73 convertible. Its pretty fun to be back in one again.
