Alumminum Heads From the Factory??

I was at the local 1/8th mile this weekend and there was a really nice tubbed out orange 5.0 LX. I was talking to the guy and I asked him what he had in it and he said just a stock 302 with Cobra Jet Alumminum heads.. and he said it all came from the factory. He wouldn't let me see it either because he had to go. I just thought it was odd... cuz I have only heard of this on the 428's, 427's and 460's

Ford didn't produce the 5.0L with AL heads from the factory. In fact, I don't think they've mass produced any of their pushrod V-8's with AL heads for as far back as you want to go. I believe their first AL heads on a mass produced motor were on the 4.6L ohc mod motors. Some will argue that the 427 sohc had AL heads - but I don't think I'd call that mass produced.

I have heard of cobra jet heads, but I meant I never heard of them on a 302.
