jack up one of the rear tires, spin it one time around and count how many times the driveshaft spins.

All that's gone dude.... I bought the car as a 6 and converted it to an 8 but I'd still like to have a door tag with all the original information. I have all the other data but I don't have the ratio. I sold the rear end already...

The original rear end that came with the car is gone.... I have a Granada rear end in the car now. I wanted to know the ORIGINAL ratio for the 6 cyl Mustangs. Not what ratio I have now. That's the only piece of info I need for the data plate.

More than likely you will be 2.83, but to be sure check with marti auto.

I didn't think Marti reports where available for 66s.

depends on what 289. is this a regular mustang or a GT? even then, there are a lot of gears to chose from.
