Am I blower safe???

I'm thinking of adding a small blower in the future, probably only 5lbs-8lbs of boost. Like I said, something SMALL. I have a stock 302 bottom end with 60,000 miles. I have Edelbrock performer heads, performer intake, and an e-cam. Should I be okay running a small blower? Maybe a Vortech A-trim? The head gaskets I have are just standard fel-pro's (FEL-9333PT1). Will I be okay?

you should be ok, ive read of people putting blowers on a stock 302 with over 180,000 miles. but i think the only thing you will need to do is bigger injectors, maf etc. etc.

you should be fine if you only push the amount of boost that you stated before. you can also search tech, people have asked the same thing with much more mileage, 302s can take a lot dont worry, with 5 to 8lbs you should not really have any problems

Its all in the tune. What injectors do you use? You can use the fmu that comes in the kit (with the proper disk for your injectors) for the time being, then i'd step up the injector. Those gaskets will be fine. Its all in the tune. What will you be using to tune?

I'll probably take the car somewhere to get a custom tune. Right now I have FMS 24# injectors, but I'll probably upgrade to at least 30# if I get the blower. I have a 255lph fuel pump so that should be fine... Will I make close to 400rwhp with 8lbs of boost and a custom tune? Which would be the best blower for the money if only running up to 8lbs of boost?

An alternative to spending $600+ for a custom chip and tune is a fully adjustable FMU, Boost-a-pump, and an AFR meter. If you plan to upgrade more as you go along then the chip is a great idea as most places will charge around $100 to reburn it when it becomes necessary. Another option for around $900 might be an Anderson PMS. That option only has to be bought one time but an AFR meter will also be required if you plan to use the PMS to tune it yourself. If you choose that route, I'd suggest getting an AFR meter that's capable of data logging. N8Miller has some of those if you're interested.

Your head gaskets are fine so long as the tune is done correctly. There are a number of ways to get that done. You just have to decide how you want to go about it. Just be sure to look into you future mods before you decide.

I don't know much about blowers or tuning (except timing, fuel pressure, TPS, etc.), so what I was looking to do was get the blower with supporting mods (bigger injectors, MAF, etc.), install it myself, then take it somewhere to get tuned.

Your best bet would probably be a custom chip and tune then. With it, they can adjust your fuel and spark tables. You will probably end up needing to get larger injectors as many performance tuners don't like or will not touch a car equipped with an FMU (it's a better solution anyway). You may also want to consider a larger MAF and TB to maximize air going to and and coming from the blower. Bare in mind that the MAF and TB are not REQUIREMENTS. With a custom chip, they can setup the tune with your current meter to run just about any size injector up to 42lb without additional modifications. You need not recalibrate the stock meter in most cases when getting a chip burned. If you end up "pegging" the meter well.... that's a different story. I'd recommend upgrading your MAF at any rate.

I just put on a 6 lb powerdyne and also upgraded to a 90mm lightning mass air and 42 lb. injectors. Im going to get it tuned in the next week or two. I talked to 5 different tuners and all odf them prefer larger mass air and injectors to tune with. and as for milage my car has over 100,000 miles on it. just make sure you have a safe tune and keep the RPM's under 6000 and you should be good

I have the SC trim on my 89 GT, and although I don't use it for a daily driver, I easily could. That is, if I had an unlimited fuel budget, lol! Just like Vortech says, a supercharger can increase your gas mileage, if you stay out of boost (under 3K rpm) if you like the boost, watch your gas gauge just drop. Anyway, the SC is a good choice and a dyno tune is a must, afterwards. I even installed my Vortech myself, with the help of a couple of friends. I would also recommend Superchargersonline for your purchase.
