Keep your yellow car - way nicer than that. You would be disappointed IMO driving around a 25 year old car daily.

Ok, this will show my age but I would love to have that car. When I was in high school a good friend of mine got a brand new 85' with T-tops for a graduation present. I loved that car and always wanted one, I ended up with an 84 Trans Am with T-tops, not to bad. If it was me I would be very tempted, I'm kind of looking around for one myself. Hard to find a descent one. It looks to be in very good shape, so I would diffenetly consider it, but it's really up to what you like better.

Plus, that 5.0 will respond well to mods. And the mods are actually affordable too!

Unlike the 5.0L that's already sitting under the hood of his '95?

The dude is askin $5500 & thats exactly what I paid for my 79k ,original miles, unraped 95 GT only 4 months ago....

I would by it outright if I had the cash, but its not feasible right now....

That 86' looks to be in VERY good shape. Except for the wheels (which you have plans for anyway), it's a sweet looking car.

I would.

In the 3rd pic, is that a door ding by the door handle or a reflection?

WOW....my fiance thinks I am insane, but I love the four eyes when they are in good shape. That one looks like its in very good shape. Its a tough call, I love the SN95 in the yellow you have now but you never find four eyes that are in good shape any more. Personally, I would jump all over it. Its a win win either way though cuz your SN95 is great too! Let us know which way you go!

Yes, but for a '94-'95 GT....the '86 would have still been wearing a set of 4-bolt 10-holes.

i think its a good looking car, but i despise the interior, not that the sn-95 is anything to write home about...but i agree, not as a daily driver.

So do u guys mean its not a daily because its less reliable, or because its not as comfortable??? As far as comfort goes, my 95 is ok, but its not like it rides like a Lincoln LS or sumthin....honestly, every lowered mustang ive either driven or rode in was pretty much a harsh ride with the exception of my buddies 03 cobra (IRS)....
i only drive 20 minutes to & from work a day so comfort isnt an issue, but reliability is.....

I'd go for it, coming from a 5.0 background. The conversion to MAF is nice, because now any mods you do it can learn on. The 5 lug swap is a nice piece, you get better braking (hopefully it's a disc rear), and more rims. The car looks super clean and nice. Most of the suspension off of the yellow car should swap right over btw, springs, LCAs, most of that is the same. I used the BBK springs from my 87 on my 04 with no problems.

I don't think so. The struts on a fox don't have internal stops in them, and the SN95s do. You'll need to sell those. But control arms, springs, swar bars, brakes (due to the 5 lug swap), and other pieces should swap. Honestly, the big thing is the MAF conversion. Now you could go grab a nice mild E cam and put it in with no issues, the car will have more power and a nice lope, and the MAF will let it run pretty decent. Same with bolt ons.

Interesting thread, lots of good opinions both ways.

Unless you REALLY want that 86, I have a feeling that if you go there, look at it a lot, and drive it around, you probably won't want to trade as much as you do now.

So what are you going to do?

I almost bought a very clean SVO before I got my '03... I decided that the reliablility and ease of ownership were more important to me than al older fox... that I have always wanted.

I will have a fox when I have a garage to work on it! Any 20+ year old car will require more work.

Good luck,

Matt

Thanks 4 all the info & opinions every1....At this point Im not too sure what I am gonna do & it doesnt look like the guy is too interested anymore since he says he is really trying to trade for a nice commuter although he likes my 95....Im gonna call him tomorrow morning to see if i can at least come check it out...the bad thing is that the guy lives about 200 miles from where I live....I have to go look at it just to get it out of my system, but at this point, I think Im just gonna keep the 95 & continue saving up for the trickflow h/c/i package....I already have a track heat manifold, BBk 70mm TB, & some FRPP shorty's waiting to go in, I just need to get the heads, cam, & a few odds & ends & im good to go.....
