I know this is 94-95 talk, so Im sure the opinions are gonna be a bit biased, but Im gonna ask here anyway....

Am I crazy if I wanted to trade my 95 GT, 5 spd, coupe (Minus the wheels, & suspension goodies), for a super clean 86 GT t top, 5 spd, with mass air 1990 5.0 motor with 80k miles, 5 lug swap, world class T5 tranny, king cobra clutch, KYB AGX's, c springs.... I know to most its a downgrade, but I absolutely love 4 eyed T top hatchbacks....what do u think????

Heres the car.....

Both cars look awesome.
I can see if you've had your car for a while, being bored with it and wanting to try something new. If you trade you'd be upgrading the engine, but downgrading the chassis.

If they're hobby cars, I'd say take whichever one appeals to you the most(I like the '86). But if it's a daily driver, I'd stick with the SN.

Ive only had the 95 about 4 months now, but Ive had 4 SN95's since 2004, & never had a fox....Ive had a 96 Gt, 97 Cobra, 03 mach 1 (which i still have), & my 95, so ive been looking down at the same dash for about 4 years now...I could use a change, but this would be for a daily driver to & from work, about 30 miles a day round trip....

i know the chassis is better on the SN, but is it that much better considering the 86 already has a 5 lug swap ??? Do the fox's have a crappier ride quality??? How much worse of a daily would the 86 make, I mean my 95 is only getting like 16-7 mpg as it is, & it doesnt exactly ride very smooth since its lowered...

The mach 1 I have would actually make the best daily driver, but I dont want to abuse my baby....

do it!!! no offense, but i have never been a fan of the sn95's. i almost said something, but i don't have my flame suit on right now!! i really didn't give a crap about my 91 either when i first got it. i just "thought it was cool". now i'm TOTALLY in love with these cars and the aftermarket support is insane. You will turn more heads with that 4 eye for sure. the fox is not the best car out there, but the fun factor, and value of these cars is hard to match. just my .02

ps i am one of the few that doesn't really like the 4 eye look, but that is a sweet car.
p.ps - the mods on that ttop are a nice starting point too, not hp mods that usually mean its been bagged. just mods to make it more enjoyable to drive. a lot of these cars have seen plenty of abuse, which is always another thing to consider.

Dunno why ive never had a fox, I always loved the sn's though....But after reading mustang mags for years i fell in love with the 85-86 GT's for some reason???

I was looking for a fox but couldnt find a good one when i had the $$$, but then I came across the 95 & it only had 79k original miles & no mods, & Ive always loved the yellow for some reason so i was sold.... Plus a clean 5.0 SN is pretty rare around here nowadays....That particular 86 had a few mods I think at one time, but the drivetrain was having some issues so they put the bonestock 90 drivetrain in it & all is good now...I will have to look at it though to know 4 sure....

Is there any way you can swing the fox as a weekend car - it would rock for that.

The SN is much nicer for a DD IMHO. WIth SFC's, suspension, brakes, etc, the foxes can be made as nice as stock SN's but it does take some work.

Be sure the t-tops are water tight.

Good luck with the decision.

Thanks......The Mach 1 is the weekend car & my SN is my DD...the fox would be the DD...suspension wise it would have bilsteins, MM lca's & cc plates, & probably sportlines...Then down the road it would have sfc's also....i also have a brand new Cobra front brake setup that I was gonna put on my 95 which will also go on the 86 if I do go with the deal.....

with no quad shocks, what is the widest wheel u can fit on the back of a fox & also, will my lca's bolt up & will the 94-04 Bilsteins work on a fox???? I know the cc plates are different though.....

I think I would do it. I love 85-86 GTs also. They are my 2nd favorite fox bodies, first being 93 Cobras. I have actually been thinking about getting rid of my '94 for a 85-86 GT, but I want to keep my TKO from my car and I don't have anything else to put in it (stock T5 got grenaded). I have had 3 different SN variants since 2003, and I can feel your pain on getting tired of staring at pretty much the same thing.
