I was thinking.....ive really always wanted a convertable mustang. I have been planning on saving up 3,000 for my paintjob, which i almost have. I was thinking instead of having my car painted, just to swap my parts onto a 94-98 v6 mustang vert, and i would have a convertable with paint?

has anyone done this? how much of a PITA is it to switch over all the stuff? Im not worried about the extra weight, i would swap in my engine, twin-turbo setup, etc

+ wiring harness + rear-end + suspension + lots of other stuff i can't think of right now.

i personally would rather enjoy a TT coupe w/ a new paint job to go along w/ all that power than doing even more work for a vert and further delaying new paint

No. You are not crazy. I wouldn't have it any other way. Plus I think verts are classier looking. Not just because I have one though..that is the reason I bought one in the first place. Then driving down the road with the top down is awesome. Everyone should have once once in their life.

Don't forget the massive bracing and gusseting for the peaky power you're putting down.

Seriously, I think Sorscode has some info on his site for doing a V6-V8 swap (in case it gives an idea of the wiring, etc involved. I wouldn't know myself).

Good luck with the decision.

Even coming from a 'vert owner, I'd say keep the coupe. Don't get me wrong, I love my car to death, nothing beats driving in the summer time with the top down, and the girls take off their panties for you as you drive-by  . But seriously, say if down the road some time you decide to get serious in drag racing or auto-x racing, you are very limited in terms of what you can be legal for with the 'vert, even if you install a full roll bar. I'd say paint the car you have now and be done with it. You could always get a convertible as a second car/sex machine.

thanks guys.....I think you talked me out of it. It would probably just be easier to get another 94-95 vert later on.

i guess my car will get its paint!

btw i havent had luck finding any info on the targa tops....did they stop making them?

I usta have a beautiful v6 coupe, now I have a v8 convertible.... I've always wanted a convertible and there's nothing like putting the top down on a beautiful summer day...

...Plus, the chicks dig it :)

I dont know about you guys but I didn't build my car for a quartermile race track. I built it to drive it. Even those of you who do go to the track...I bet you are driving on the street ALOT more. Makes me wonder why folks are so worried about track ediquette so much.
