i know chris and the new general manager craig (prez of Ca-mustangs club) and i've basically been in there just askin them about stuff once every few weeks for a long while now because they were in constant close connection with two of the mustang clubs i've been in. They know a lot about modifications, but their prices are STEEEEP and everytime they get ahold of a car to work on, it takes far longer than planned.

Theres one other place close by called Speed Merchant that is much like apex but works on camaros, corvettes and stangs with almost every mod BUT CAMS because they're not carb legal... its a bummer too because they know how to do it, but they've been caught installing illegal mods before and dont want to get penalized again.

yea man for sure. got my tires on the car finally so i can actually drive it! i wanna check out your car also.

hmm speed merchant... is that on lafayette by el camino where they always have all the corvettes?
i am really getting pissed about all the carb bull**** around here.... maybe we can talk to one of the install guys and see if he wants to do some work on the side.... we pay in cash... no problem...
surprisingly also, no one really chimed in about shops in maybe like modesto, sacramento, maybe even LA area ionno... if its going to be like a 6-7 hour 650ish dollar install... might be worth the drive lol? what u think? like a mini vacation as well!

yea if i really cant find anything around here, i'd be down to go for a drive to get the install done. lol

i really want to go ahead and order them so i can show this bmw guy and see what he honestly thinks, but i just had to buy those tires for the rear hopefully i will get them ordered during next week after i make some money this weekend, and then take them in to the guy to check things out.

you make some good points there with your reasoning for not going stage 2s.i mean i have heard of significant power gains from stage 2s on an otherwise stock gt,actually my friend had them and his car dynoed in the high 280 rear wheel range.stock heads and upper and lower intake,****ty tune too.but i see where your coming from.as for driving it without the tune i wouldnt recomend it.you dont want to spend all this money then go lean it out and be set back even further because you just blew up the motor ya know.just my opinion.good luck tho

Hey guys, I'm looking to do cams sometime this year. Can you keep me updated on where you get them installed and how much. I'm in the bay area as well. I contacted Apex awhile ago and they said it was a 12 hour job. As far as their tuning goes they wanted like $300 and hour or something like that for the dyno tune and thats with me already having an Xcal2. You might want to call up a place called Speed freaks Inc. They are located in Tracy and I heard they are some pretty nice guys. Anyways, let me know if you get your cams installed cause thats somethig I really want to do.

HAhah. that was really random... you drove past my bro in the de anza parking lot (when i was going to pick him up) and was on the phone with him when he told me a modded looking silver mustang that sounded good with black saleens was going to be pulling out of de anza parking lot behind that gray AMG with black rims and i thought there was no way in hell it would have been your car

thats cool though. i live only 3 blocks away from de anza. i'll hit you up sometime. i just got screwed out of my money on the last tires i bought so it'll be a few days before i have tires on the rear again. i was riding around on the spare when you saw me

Speed Merchant's on Lincoln and San Carlos nowadays if I remember right

try Valaya Racing in San Jose. They do Viper work alot, but work on other stuff too.

Then there's Ford Fed Performance in the Sacramento area.
