One thought on running to redline, it's probably OK as long as you are not doing it all the time. In my mind the problem with hitting redline everytime you go WOT is not that running the motor at that speed will necessarily cause a problem. It's the few times you overrev past where you intend (which happens to everyone), and when you do, you really stress the engine. So if you keep it pretty infrequent, you are more likely to be paying close attention and avoid the kill overrevs. But hey, that's just MHO.

JFYI- I ran my combo from 2001 until 2005 and I always shifted it at 6000rpms when racing, and I did a good bit of it. I also had the stock balancer. I did have to replace it during that time and I stuck another stock one in there since I didn't know what I'd be doing down the road when I rebuilt it in terms of the balancing. I never had an issue (even with my stock AFR valve springs with ~120lbs of pressure) pulling into and above 6K. I made a few dyno pulls to 6300 with no issues.
I would be surprised if your combo needed to be shifted that high though. Just guessing, but I'd think a 5500-5700rpm max shift point would be best.
