Hello every body! I just took delivery of my new 05 Mustang GT and have a couple of questions. First off, has any body heard the new flowmaster AM thndr axel back exhaust system? I have listened to the sound clips and it sounds awsome but i cant tell if it is louder than the stock mufflers or if it is just as quiet. I like the sound the flowmaster puts out but it doesnt sound like it is any louder than the stock muffler. Magnaflow is my other option but I don't know how the MagnaPack system sounds on the new 05 Mustang GT. I would appreciate any input that any body has thanks! :D

Hey Boss,

I've had the Flowmaster American Thunder Kit installed for about a week now. Every time I fire it up it sounds a little better. It IS louder than stock for sure, but not outrageous. It is a very deep agressive tone that really comes alive when you accelerate. It sounds very nice at idle too, a deep mellow rumble. It sounds much better than the sound clip. I've been told that over a period of time, it will get a little louder as they break in. I am very pleased with nice powerful sound. :D

I agree - sound clips can be misleading. I've had the Flows installed for a little over a week too and I think they're awesome - they sound and of course look much better. They really sound good when decelerating and when starting off, but still behave well while cruising. Overall, they're more aggressive than the stock mufflers. The stock system sounds excellent too - one of the many things that "hooked" me on this car when I fired it up at the dealership. The main reason I bought the Flows was for the looks (black body and SS tips). I considered adding tips to the stock mufflers but that's kind of a pain. Anyway (for me) the great sound of the Flows was a bonus. Good luck!

I was pleasantly surprised with the sound at decel - first time I heard it I was looking for the car what done it! Sounds just awesome on startup, too. Manages to be night and day when compared to the stock, but somehow not too loud and annoying.
