Reading thru the owner manual on the vortech. Says not to start the car if the temp is 25 degrees??????? Is this SERIOUS?? It is 25 degrees here now, just got off work and would love to take the car for a spin but i'm afraid to start it now GRRRRRRRRR
Is it a viscosity/flow issue with the blower oil? There has to be some way to warm the case enough to start the car but I feel your pain. I have no clue.
It has to do with the very tight tolerances of the SQ-trim. I won't start my car if it's less than 45 degrees out. Call me anal, but I feel bad for my engine when I start it up when it's that cold out.
bummer it is so cold there. And you guys think canada is cold. I'll have you all know it is a balmy 26 degree's in my igloo. btw i wouldn't fire it up either no use destroying a perfectly good supercharger for a afternoon joy ride.
I drive my car no matter what the temperature it is outside (15-25 degrees F) and never had a problem for the past 3 years. I think you'll be fine if you just let it warm up before beating on it. Call Vortech and get their opinion.
Im assuming they mean 25 degrees Outside as if the car is stored outside...If the cars stored inside a heated or warm garage im sure it would be ok as long as its let warmed up before you bring it out to the cold weather
I would not tolerate that. I would move south. I moved to MS from NH in 78, and if I had known how $%# cold it gets in South Carolina, I would have never moved this far north again. They hate it when I call this north around here.
well, I know that generally vortech out shines powerdyne, but i gotta say at least the powerdyne doesnt have any driving restrictions. I drive my car every day all year long. It can easily get well below 25 degrees where i live.
From what I've researched, it's only the SQ-trim that cannot be driven in cold weather because of the very tight tolerances in the gearing. It won't be properly lubericated until the oil warms up.
The S-trim on the other hand (and possibly the SC-trim) don't have tight tolerances like the SQ does, so they can be driven in the colder temperatures without a problem
