I have had the GT about 6 weeks now and have put stripes on it, shocks, air intake, SCT tuner, and yesterday, Flowmasters. I live in military housing. A neighbor woman walked by at 0830 and addresses the typical mid-life crisis bit of needing a red sports car, among other things. She said, "New exhaust?" "Yeah, it will be louder." "Are you 18?" "I couldn't afford this car when I was 18." She said, "Good thing". I said, "You probably weren't born when I was 18 (which is a bit of an exaggeration- I'm 47)". My wife jokes about it, my kids, my ex, and my brothers joke about it. Well heck, I don't have to haul diapered "chillens" all over the place anymore, and I finally have some money to blow. Better late than never, eh?

It's not really a midlife crisis thing. It's about haveing something that you like and want. A midlife crisis is sexual disfunction or haven an affair. Unless she saw you doing something wierd in or on your car.
Congrats on the red ride.

special deal

Thanks.
What can I say? Special year-end deal. I REALLY wanted the cream Cobra with grey stripes, Cervini grill, and white ball shifter, but $48000! Anyway, I put the stripes on.

She'd be alot more correct had he bought a Vette or Porsche I don't consider a Mustang midlife crisis at all, it's an American tradition

They are the 3M stripes. I had to borrow the wife's hair dryer a couple of time to get the creases in the front and rear bumpers to submit.

I can relate brother. Twenty-nine years in the Corps and I've managed to steer clear of base housing for most of it because of the example you relate. My guess is that you've paid for the privilege of driving that car with any type of g-damned exhaust that you want on it in terms of deployed time alone. She sounded like a stereotypical officer's wife to me....

yup

You guessed right.
Here in Hawaii you sure can't afford to buy a house unless you want to be REAL house-poor.
