In your sister. If none, your mom
I just got back from the track. It was about 86* outside :notnice: I think that played a good role of the turnout of the day.. I was running 100% street form, and 100% not tuned. Still running stock fuel pressure, whatever that is. No slicks, no nitrous, no shortbelt, no addtional weight removal like seats, etc. Did about 7 runs. Best of [email protected]. Best 60" was 1.8 :notnice: Did a few 13.1 and 13.2. All were in the 106mph. This was not the best track either. I was spinning a lot even with the Dr's at 13psi, with burnout. I'll be going propably next weekend with slicks, shortbelt, no seats. Curious to se what I'll run..I still should of ran 12's today. If only I could of gotten a better 60ft and a colder day. If I was launching from idle, I was a little bugging. If I was launching at 2500rpm, I was spining a lot.

Tell me what you think.

how big of a shot u were running ?!?! if u are running a 100 shot ithink that ur E.T is resonable for a hot wheather and as u said "was not the best track" . any way the 60 ft is not bad at all.. it's acually good. i luanch with 2,000 - 2,500 with nitto's and my 60 ft is 1.72.

i had wrose days before. i ran a 13.9 when i was running a 13.2 the day before it all that coz of a weather and a crappy track.

he was running it n/a, if those times were on a 100 shot, that would be very bad.

Times look good, MPH shows power, just keep practicing, play with different shift points to see what gets you the most mph.

I look forward to ur results with the slicks.

Just for comparision, one of my slips looked like this: (notice I was slower in the 1/8 mile, but came on in the last half. It makes me think you need to play with the shift points)

2.043 -60'
5.579 -330'
8.451 -1/8mile
85.75 -1/8mile mph
12.989 -1/4mile
108.99 -1/4mile mph

You should get your car on the dyno before you go to the track, just to get everything figured out. I know when Jeremy (94DreamGT) first got on the dyno he made something like 265/290 and then just by playing with the fuel pressure and timing he ended up at 304/331.

Like Jesse said play with the shift points. The 1/8 mile MPH looks real low, so you might be shifting too high or too low. What were you shifting at?

Jake

I think I was shifting at like 6000rpm on 1st to 2nd gear, and 2nd to 3rd through all the runs. Around 5700rpm for 3rd-4th  I dunno man. I aint a pro at this.

Next time I'll shift at lower Rpm.

I just went to the track to see if I really needed a tune. My goal is 12's N/A. I'm pretty dam close on fully street trim. But you're right, I should get the car tuned to have the optimal results.

Don't worry, I'm not either. It's just practice. I found 6k for 1-2, 5800 for 2-3, and 5400 for 3-4, but the stock tachs on these cars suck, so it could be way different for different cars. Just pick a set of shift points to try, write them down, make the run, then try a different set, write them down and make a run. Look at what changed, but try to make sure the car is at a similar temp when make the runs.

Very good idea about writing the shiftpoints down. I should study the runs more instead of just trying to get to the line as fast as possible. You know what I mean.
I know my tach is good. With the EEC Tuner, I raised the idle to 1000rpm (yes I know it's high but it's the only way the car wont die) and it's dead on the 1000rpm LINE on the stoch tach. Unless it becomes not dead on while going up in the rpm's..that I dont know.

The temperature of the car was always at 190* for all the runs. The fan comes sooner with the Tuner.

Thanks

The stock tach really becomes inaccurate in the upper rpms. It's usually dead on down low.

Jake

I'll have my Raptor shiftlight this week so I'll be able to compare if the light (plugged to the coil), set to the desired RPM, will be flashing at the same time as I see the needle on the stock tach. If it's not working together, I guess it will be time for a new aftermarket tach then.

I agree with Jake that your 1/8th mile MPH looks low, but I bet with some more practice it will come up. I am surprised you didn't run 12's with a 106mph trap speed and a 1.8 60'. Work on shifting faster, and play with your shift points as was said. I'd expect your 1/8mph to be around 85mph or so. Are you into 4th before, during, or after the 1/8th mile MPH trap? I usually hit it right at the beginning of the trap. If I hold out 3rd, my 1/8th MPH will go up some, but the 1/4mph will drop off. Also, don't do a "round robin" when at the track. Let the car cool a MINIMUM of 30-45minutes between runs. 190* is too hot. Run it at 150* and watch what happens, I know your mph will come up.

I must be screwing up with the shiftpoints in first 2 gears..I'm shifting as fast as you can shift before you step to powershifting you know. Personnaly I dont think my driving is the problem. But if all you guys say that the 1/8 of a mile mph should be higher, then I think we mostly solved the problem. ABout where I am in 4th gear, honnestly I dont know. Never really looked for that. I will get that detail next time.

I ran like (4)106mph runs and (2)105mph with average 1.8-1.9 60ft. I actually was letting the car cool down between every run until it reached 180* or so. I thought everybody said that our cars were making the most power at around 180-190* Next time, I'll bring more ice for the intake, propably gonna hook that fan so I can run it even if the car isnt running, to cool it down. I'll try 150* next time, if you say so. Afterall, you are the king

Thanks for the advices

One more thing..

Is there any way I can make the car cool down faster after a run, while it's shut down ?

I thought of wiring that self-control fan trick but the only thing it would do is cool the rad down, right ? Useless if the coolant isnt moving in the engine...

What more could I do more from icing the intake, and opening the hood right after the run ?

Thanks
