Just a reason to get a mini starter. You'll learn that when stock stuff breaks, till to replace it with something better. That being said, hold the car at 12,000 RPM for 4 minutes.

tis just keeps costing me and costing me. bought it becasue of very low miles.
and it runs worse then my dads mustang with over 230,000 miles in it

I dont think the starter is bad.. I think you may have shorted something out when the car got rained in.

i think i found the problem.................

when i crawled in i hit the gear shift in R somehow. when my dad gets back i will try to start it and see what happen.

i hope that is just it. if it is boy do i fell like an idiot.


ps: checked the fuses did find one that was bad.

ps. how much work is it to throw in a t5? the hardest part would be? putting the trans in? or setting the clutch peddle and clutch cable ect?

Hardest part is getting the auto out and putting the manual petals in. BTW my car is 27yrs old and has never left me stranded or refused to start. Dont blame the age of the car, blame the skill of the mechanic.

A lot of times, but not always cars with high mileage are more reliable, because most of the stuff that will wear out soon or that has deteriorated on a low mileage car has already been replaced on the high mileage one.

Or I replaced everything that was old before it went bad. When I bought my car 5 years ago everything was original down to the plug wires. Then When I put another high mileage but great running engine in it, it also had to original plug wires, I replaced all the normal maintinence items on that engine too.

The hardest part of the t-5 swap is taking the auto trans out. The pedal assembly is easy took me liek 30 minutes when i did it. Its just getting that dam aod un hooked and out from under the car..

My advice when pulling out the aod.... have a punching bag handy... saves alot of knuckle marks on the car and garage walls... and make sure you have the extensions to get the two top bellhousing bolts out... other than that its cake

Hahaha werd when i did my swap i threw a ratchet and a 12mm combo wrench through the wall of my garage..
