Backround: 2008 GT/CS bought last year with 31k. Everything was perfectly quiet and smooth when I bought it but little by little I started hearing a whine. Today is a nice day so I popped the hood and got out the stethoscope. Power steering pump sounds usual for a Ford (kinda noisy), AC compressor wasn't much (even ON), but the alternator seems to have a nice whine. Turned on the headlights and it got worse. It changes some due to RPM but not much louder over 2000, kinda tops out there.
Conclusion: Something is worn or misaligned in the alternator.
Question: What is the best quality alternator to replace this OE with? I don't need a higher capacity for 24" subs, Offroad halogens, or airbag compressors. All I want is a high quality OE replacement that will be better than stock. I plan on having this car for more than 5 years so quality is a must.
