Another Cam Question

Is there such a thing as a streetable camshaft that can be used for a NA car and a SC car? Does such a beast exist? I am kinda running out of HP mods to do for my car until I SC it and I figured cams would be a good way to go. However, I have heard that if you are going to blow it and cam it, that you need to get a blower cam. Is there a way to have, lets say, a crazy NA grind that translates to a mild to moderate blower cam or does it not work like that. As you can see I know very little about cams in the sense of timing and durations and the like. Thanks for any help or suggestions I can get.

Best thing to do would be to just run the blower grinds until you get the blower. Many guys have done this and gotten "OK" gains N/A and then picked up tremendous HP with the addition of the blower.

The main difference between a blower grind and a N/A grind is the lobe seperation angle. A really radical N/A cam will typically have a 110 degree or smaller while a blower cam will be on the higher side of things. The smaller the LSA the rougher the idle and lower the vaccum which increases the driveability issues. You can get some pretty wild blower cams and get some moderate gains until you go FI and be fine on driveablility.

Will this affect my emissions and what if any kind of tune will I have to get? I suppose at least an air/fuel tune.

My tuner had to get into the A/F tables and play around because it was too lean down low and had to adjust the idle RPM. However, I had a Steeda reflash when I took it to him and not the OEM settings.

It depends on what exactly you are going for in a camshaft something with a short LSA probably wont get by the epa cops however a long LSA might it just depends. You will have to get it tuned. All dyno tunes are centered around the A/F ratio but they also include timing fuel trims etc.
