Another exhaust question thread

I have a 383 Stroker with a 2.5" exhaust. I have a Mac Catted X Pipe with the Mac catbacks.

Somehow i got a muffler violation with a 5 day tag (means it needs to be fixed in 5 days) I have to go to the main office where state inspections are done. (Bribes don't work here) I got a extension to the 13th.

My question is what mufflers would be quieter than what i have now but still give me performance. I was looking at the Borla ProXS mufflers. Any ideas on a muffler that would bring the car closest to stock sound levels?

State law says anything louder than stock is basically illegal. That means its up to the police officer and inspection guys ears to judge if my car sounds like a mustang from 1995.

The Ultraflow SS and Magnaflow mufflers are the quietest. Steeda used to rebrand the UltraFlow muffler as the Steeda "Ultraquiet." They also are straight through mufflers which way out perform chambered style mufflers like the Mac and Flowmaster. Unfortunately, most of the exhaust clips you are going to hear are without cats. The cats also make it quiter.
