I have read on multiple mustang sites and multiple threads and can find what my issue is.

I have a 2001 with a 3.8. I can drive for a while and have no over heating issues at all. The other day I drove 140 miles no issues at all. I then drove in town and no issue on the way there about 10 miles. On the way home got about 2 miles from hom,e and it got redline hot. I figured mabye air in the line bleed the air with the bolt. still over heats.

I did not run the AC thought that the compressor was messed up but turned out it worls fine.

I replaced the T-STAT and bleed system still over heating on the way back home from town, didnt over heat going into town.

noticed my fan was only coming on when AC on high but I have read thats normal. Yesterday I noticed the gauge was almost to redline about 3/4 hot so I turned the ac off and it redlined once again. I parked it let it cool and started it again tried bleed ingout again but coolant comes out foamy.

anyone have this issue and fixed it? Anyone know what my next move should be? thanks for the help in advance

Are you aware that the fan on the V6 is protected by an automatic reset circuit breaker?

Are you also aware the the PCM turns off the fan anytime the car's speed is above 45 MPH? So even if the fan doesn't work at all, as long as you are going over 45 MPH the car will not over heat.

To me this offers an explanation of how the symptom can come and go.

So if the fan is drawing too much power, the CB will trip. Once the CB cools, it will reset. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Are you opening the motor vent air bleed line when the motor is hot? If so, this is part of the problem. The V6 will overheat if there is any air trapped inside the motor. The V6 cooling re-filling procedures must be followed exactly.

FWIIW, it's not normal for the V6 cooling fan to run only when the AC is on high.

that explains it. I read on another forum to bleed it when it was hot. I bleed it this morning went to town and back with no issues besides my fan broke and now hits the shroud. Thank you wmburns for the advice
