The infinite and stang get parked in the garage and the B'mer gets parked on the grass NEXT to the driveway.

No it is not up on blocks

No it is not a rusted out heap

It is a 2004 5 series.

And I park it next to the driveway so I can back the stang out without backing 2 cars.

So I got a letter in the mail today claiming one of the neighbors is OFFENDED that I am parking my car next to my driveway on the grass ( so that I can get the other cars out if I want to drive one of them instead). And will I please park it in the driveway!

Can you just lay down a slab to replace the grass? Or two concrete strips for the tires with grass in between? Hell, you could put hexagonal pavers down where the tires would drive to make it look like landscaping.

But I would just continue to park in the grass untill they threaten with charges. Don't forget you have as much leverage as they do, all you need to do is find one thing about each neighbor that you can complain about and write some letters.

Me personally. I would go door to door and find out who it was. They won't tell you but you will know once you ask them by their reaction. Then you can work something out as long as you can pretend you don't want to punch them in the head.

This is exactly the reason why I could not live in a developement with a homeowners association. My in-laws live in such a place and my father-in-law is on the board and the stupid **** that people complain about drives me crazy, and the things they inforce do too.

I can see certain developments having rules on the type of houses being built (like no trailers next to a 3000sqft 1/4 million dollar home) but that is about it. Some rules are OK, but they are normally taken too far to the extreme.

i know what you mean. last year i was looking at real estate in FL to relocate. and a majority of the homes where in these types of developements. now i help run a family business thats in a construction trade and the realtor knows this. In almost all the developments you can not have a commerical van or truck or even a car with commerical plates park in the drive way over night.
so where am i going to park my work truck?
just stupid rules and regulations, another one that go me was one had no street parking after a certian hour. so what if i have company over and my drive way is already full of guest and more come? im not going to send people home early

and clark i know what you mean about e-town. some people have balls to buy a 600 -700K house near a ****in race track and then complain about the noise. poeple aren't raceing pigeons there dip****.


i just thought of a solution. put a lift in your drive way, that way you can have your BMW on the lift and drive under it. if they complain tuff **** the car is in the drive way. i bet it would drive them crazy.

there is someone in my neighborhood who parks his car (an acura) on the grass under a tree, but it's weird because they have a 2 car driveway. i think they are weird about it because maybe it was hit there before or something. and i live in a pretty upscale neighborhood where some of the houses go for 1.5M. i might wonder what's the deal, but i would never even consider writing a letter telling him it is offensive.

here's what i would want to do ...

take the mufflers out out the stang and and park it at the end of the driveway every night. then at 5:00 am every morning, i'd "move it out of the way" so i could get whatever car was the most blocked in out.

of course i'd have to leave it running while i moved the cars around.

i bet they'd wish they hadn't sent that stupid letter then ...

on a similar note, there are people who buy houses right next to a local pool that has been there for 50 years, and then they complain about noise from swim meets. and then there are those brilliant people who buy houses in the country and then complain about the smell of the chickens or cows from a nearby farm.

Parking in your front yard is to white trash as big wings and stickers are to ricers.

That is too nice a car to have parked in your yard neighbors or not.

Sorry, I just assumed that your driveway was in the front of your house because your neighbors can see the BMW parked in the grass.

If it's in the backyard behind a fence then you have nothing to worry about. Check out your HOA agreement. That outlines the do's and don'ts. If it's not covered in there then send a rebuttal letter to the association.
