Another Fuel Pump thread searched..

My fuel pump just took a poop today, so i was thinking i'll throw a SVT focus pump in there and i had a few questions..

1) what year focus pump do i want? (my car is a 97)
2) i found that i couldnt use the focus basket with the pump, is there anything else that could be wrong with the in-tank pump that i need? or is it just the pump that needs to be replaced??

i called ford and they have a 2003 ****us SVT pump in stock for $140... is that too much?


ive also heard that the focus pump wont work on pre98's... true or false?

I'm not sure if the focus pump will work for your 97. You have a return style fuel system and the focus' have a returnless style system (just like 99+ stangs). I hope some one else can answer your question...

i just threw my fuel pressure gauge on the car, and it idles at 33PSI... then when it starts to spudder it goes up to 38psi and then the car dies...

that wouldnt be the sign of a bad pump would it??

i'm thinking its a really bad misfire, but it doesnt do it all the time...
