Another Gear Question

Sorry to beat a dead subject...but...I have a 98 GT automatic with the four-speed transmission 4R70W. I want to put 4.10 gears in it, but I've been told if I do that with the transmission I have that I'll hit the rev limiter before I can even shift out of first gear, with the only solution being a "J-Mod". Is this correct? I had neve heard of that before.

i believe this is false. i had 4.10's in my 94 gt but that was an aode transmission. im pretty positive you dont have to do the jmod just to run 4.10's.

You will be fine.

you don't need to do a jmod or other shift kit mod in order to install 4.10

you will however need to correct your speedometer

Thanks for the responses! I had never heard/read anything about the kind of issues noted in my post, and since I have a handheld tuner I figured I could change shift points and the rev limiter if necessary. Anyway...thanks!
