So what is the benifit of a billit distributor? Ive never really understood exactly what it does if you already have a better coil and those little goodies. Also what do the products like the MSD6AL do? And are the needed after you do a mild build on an engine, or can you get by without it for awhile?

To my understanding, the billet distributor has less "play" in it vs. a stock distributor at higher rpm. For example, my stock distributor with 60k miles on it allowed the shaft to wiggle back and forth side to side etc. (barely, but still..) and the billet one I put in mine does not. Higher rpm, more "slop" so to speak. Regarding an ignition system, it helps to more effeciently burn the fuel. Better spark, better running engine, blah blah. It will benefit any engine.. :flag:

so there is no one else that can give me input on this? Im just trying to decide whether or not to just go ahead and get everything now, or if it can wait... I guess I should add that my stock distributor has about 130,000 miles on it too....

msd=multiple spark discharge.
stock ignitions are pretty good.if your running hci,turbo or charger then you might want to upgrade.but the stock ignition is more than capable on a mild 5.0
