Just wanted to say HI, Vince here from Indianapolis
Bought an 88 LX 2.3 10 years ago with the thoughts of a play toy. Well a divorce and a couple of lawyers later she became a daily driver. The end of last year my old friend was retired from daily use at 172K and is now ready doe her long over due make over.

Welcome!
Divorce sucks, been there done that!

So What are your Makeover plans?

Always good to give these old friends what they deserve, That has been the Story with my 87 LX ( Which I have also had almost 11 years)

For now I'm gonna keep the 2.3, already redid the CAI, That was a piece of cake no MAS on that year. I have the old Ranger header to install but it's cold out and I don't have a garage yet. Once I get moved I'm going to start looking for a turbo. The body is solid, a lot of surface rust. I think Ford had a problem with the paint that year or something. The interior and the suspension need work she's old and has a lot of miles and they've taken their toll. It's going to be a fun journey.

Yes it will!
My 87 had the same issue. She was pretty nice, But I sold her and Iowa winters took their toll.
A fair amount of rot, and it withstood a kid on a bike landing on the hood/Fender (car was parked).

The car only had 129k on it when I got it back from the person that bought it, but it had a good hard 32k of my abuse on it!
( Out of all the Stangs I have built I have never seen springs sag as bad as these, the car had sagged so it was 3 1/2" lower than stock!!!!)

Good luck on the project!

It ain't just northern winters that are hard on the paint. The hatch, roof, hood, and upper parts of the bumper covers on mine are toast. Surface rust through cracked or worn out paint in some areas. This car has been in Florida all of its life. I've been slowly cleaning it up and covering it so there's still something to paint when I get ready.

Its amazing how much stuff the old 4 bangers didn't have that the 92-93's have in the engine compartment.

I was lucky whoever had this car orginally had a rust proofing done on it. It presents a few challenges sometimes but she it almost rust free.

Ain't that the truth. I had a '79 Bobcat with a carbed 2.3 that you could see the ground when you looked in the engine compartment. If I wasn't such a fat bastard I probably could have stood in there and worked on if I removed the fan. Getting to everything was easy. My '91 Mustang has crap everywhere. Somewhere buried amongst vacuum lines and wiring harnesses is a motor. I know it's there, I've heard it run
