A little air......with NA, stock cam, and stock explorer bottem end. oh and with BFG drag radial tires

Im guessing the SN-95 on your right has a good amount of engine work done? Or do they just have a "look at me" hood?

These are class cars. The cars are built to go fast not so much look pretty. The stickers pay money if you win, and the hood is probably there because the owner feels it will help the most. Thats why I live racers, they dont do things so other people will drool, they do things so the car gets down the track in front of the car next to them!

Nice pic, and nice wheels up. I dont even have a wheels up pic on slicks, but with my set up (suspension more than motor) I dont expect any until I adress that!

So I assume no new times from the car?

i broke a stock axle.......awhile back. But I've replaced those with moser...and should have it at the local track soon. Hopefully either tonight, or tomorrow night (bracket races). Should be fun! I ran a best of 7.82 @ 84 mph in the 1/8 mile here local on that one and only pass (also my first pass) then second round I broke the drivers side axle. Its all back together and all I have to do is pump the gear oil in (and friction modifer).

Do you mind listing your suspension combo? I'm looking to make my drag radial car hook too.

My suspension mods are: MM lca's, UPR uppers with sperical on both ends and pinion angle set to -2*, tokico lowering springs/shocks/struts (I know i know) subframe connectors and no front swaybar.

I dont mind listing it at all.

REAR SUSPENSION:
rear shocks QA1's
rear springs stock 91 GT
rear sway bar stock 91 GT
(no air bag at this event....60ft ranged from 1.88 to 2.08)
sub frame connectors by HPM weld in
UMI performance double adjustbile uppers (solid bushing on frame side only, stock rubber bushings on rear end side)
UMI lower solid bushing (basically southside bars) control arms
pinion snubber stock and left in place.
UMI torque box reinforcements upper and lower....installed my myself.

FRONT SUSPENSION:
QA1 struts from UMI performance
stock 1991 Mustang GT front springs
front sway bar = removed
stock attaching hardware at top of struts
stock lower control arms
stock K member
weight removed was ac condensor, AC compressor, and all AC hoses etc.
battery was still in front with those launchs...weighting in at 42 lbs.

I have since added an air bag on passengers side and with two lanchs broke my drivers side axle....
I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress. Thanks for asking!

That looks killer!

Is the suspension unloading after initial launch? Reason I ask is, that launch looks a lot better than a 1.88 60 ft. time.

thanks....I'm slowly working on it, but in time it will get faster.... you can bet on it!
its hard to say. Actually that is probably one of my better 60ft's in that actual picture. The tires would hook then it spin. The shocks were played with but I didnt have my air bag hooked up in reynolds. So yes it could be unloading a bit. I also had my front struts as loose as they could be adjusted. Once i get the battery in back....that will definetly make it hook better....the old saying goes something like...for every 50 lbs off the front and added to the rear its like taking 100lbs...

The thing with these cars is the launch is key. The suspensions are so touchy here, you have to get it right. Not only suspension but the clutch set ups are crucial. A hard hitting clutch and good suspension will blow the tires off. A soft clutch but bad suspension will come out weak. You have to find a nice balance.

A lot of the guys I talk to run clutches that slip out of the hole, and have the suspensions dialed in. Some of these guys are pulling 1.5s on drag radials and reletively weak power (330-350 rwhp or so).

Also Ben its annoying, you and my dad have the same thing, and it bothers me. Yours and his cars run better 1/8 ETs (slightly) with weaker mph (Im running basically 86 in the 1/8) but on the top end, both of you come back (my guess is youd trap 107-108 easily) and he traps 110-112. I know my E7s are a bottle neck, but Im only gaining 20 mph on the top end. Might try some different shift points in different gears and see if it helps.

yea there is definetly room for improvement...I'll just keep plugging along on it.

my local 1/8 mile is 60 ft shorter than its suppose to be... only 600ft there for my low MPH in 1/8!

AHHH alright that explains it. I was going to say 1.88 60' and 7.8 @ 84 seems weird, but makes sense. Get that thing back on a 1/4 track and get some numbers out of it. My guess is low 12s by the end of the season.

Damn, I ran a 12.8 @ 107 with a 1.87 60' and my car stayed flat....I want mine mine to look cool, ha

You need a stock cam. Keep that torque down low and get those wheels up. LOL

Sometimes wheels up doesnt always help. Seen cars hit hard, get the tires up and then just nose over. Same car without lifting the tire dropped a tenth in the 60' and a few down the track.
