My father called me today with some interesting info. A chevy dealer around the corner from him is going out of business and they are emptying out. While driving around the yard he found what he could only tell me was a 5.0 convertible that looked like its been sitting for about a year. He has some contacts there but wants me to swing by first to see if its salvagable. He said its not nearly as bad as mine was when i got it so I think he wants to try to pick it up. Hes not sure the year but he compared it to mine so Im thinking 87-93. With him being 70 I dont think hes going to restore it himself if he gets it, and he asked that I not say anything to my Mom, so it will fall to me .
Going by tonight to check it out and snap some pics with my camera(phone). Going to keep my fingers crossed that its as easy as it sounds.

Ok cant get the pics off my phone dont have a usb cable that works with my phone and cant email them from my phone. But heres the deal...Its a white 89 gt 5 speed and porno interior. The interior is actually pretty clean considering its been sitting there for awhile. Seats are near perfect and looks like even the ashtray door works. Its locked but the dealer ship is near empty so going to have to move on this before it gets hauled to the scrapper. Appears that it was brought for work and abandoned there. Its so far back that you would never know it was there unless you found it by accident. The dealer was nice enough to have left the registration sitting on the front seat so I was able to get all the info even though it was locked. I want this car now I just gotta firgure out how to. Definitely have to move quick. I have the owners name so going to see if I can contact him and get an info. If he abandoned it and they never filed for a title maybe I can get it easier. OR should I say maybe my father can get it easier.
I'll bring a real camera and take real pics tomorow or stop at the Sprint store and get a cable for my phone.
Did I say I want this car?

If you can text you can send it to your email. instead of putting a number or contact change your text from numbers to ABC and put in your email.. easy as that.

Picture mail not working. Talk to my pop this morning he's going to go talk to the vp of the dealership today that he knows to see whats up. My thought is they would probably say just tow it away. We'll see. pics today I'll call sprint and fix my pic mail then post this a.m.

with that busted rear window, pull the back seats and check for rust, I would also highly suggest pulling the rear interior 1/4s and looking in there. debris gathers in those and holds moisture. I poked my finger through the floor in my last vert because of all the cancer in those areas.

What I can see of it, looks solid. Might have to file for a loat title if it was abandoned. So long as it's not reported stolen, that should just be a formality.

Yeah I figure the absolute worst case scenario(aside from not getting it) is that it becomes an awesome parts car. I would rather save it from the crusher though.

You know the, "hey, you have a car youre not even done with yet so wait til it is before looking at the next project" type of stuff.

The whole Lord of the Rings/ Gollum,Smiegel arguing with myself bit.

***edit: If the dealer wants 4k to let me tow it away then they can kiss the underside of my arse***
Its definitely abandoned. Has one of those tags hanging from the rearview that lets you know it was in for work. The dealer never filed a mechanics lein on it so I imagine it was in and got an estimate and the people said no then never came back. Already ran the title number and tag thru PennDOT and could call the "former" owners if need be and work that angle too. Could be anything thats wrong with it too but its not like Im not good at ressurrecting cars from the dead.

Anyway, I called my Dad earlier and he said he was working on it when I called him so I'll catch up with him later on it. My initial pitbull like obsession on it has passed so now I can look at it logically, and logic tells me it sucks if I cant add it but its ok too because Im not done with my current vert.

you might have better luck finding out who owns the property, sounds like the dealer wont be able to do anything. the bank who owns the property might give it to you to get if off the land.

Yeah already done. Have their names. They dont live together anymore 2 different addresses now. Havent called them and wont until I get the car. That dealer has ben there for a looong time too thats why pop is trying to contact the vp that he knows. I dig for info from him tomorrow. Once i have the car the title portion is easy.

Wow, good luck! I just rescued an 87 GT 'vert myself last Friday. It had been sitting in this garage's parking lot for the last 4 years and is need of some TLC. I managed to rip it out of the guy's hands tho for a cool $700 ;-) Good luck!
