Hey guys

I get a call from my Boss today who knows I am big into Mustangs.. here is his deal

99 GT he has a trailer hitch but the honda dealership for his jetski showed him how whoeever set his wiring up wrong. well they did it right and somehow it tripped the Anti-Theft, car starts fine, but he hits the brake to put it in gear and it dies.. so.. How can we reset the anti-theft? or do you think it may be something the Honda guy screwed up?

This is a wiring fault. Remove whatever the honda guy taped into. He caused a short of some kind. with out seeing what wires he taped into and without looking at the wiring diagram I don't know exactly what he did.

Sounds like something the honda guy screwed up. Anti theft cannot be reset. Anti theft consists of a pill like sensor in the PATS key, which sends a signal to a receiver on the ignition cyl which allows the car to start. If it was a PATS (anti theft) concern, the theft light would blink, and the car would not start. It would crank but not start.

pats (anti theft)

hey people sounds like i have a anti theft problem, i have a 99 gt and lately when at an idle or even running for that matter everything shuts down and i mean everything, sometimes it will start right back up but other times it just cranks and cranks and i can tell there is nobody home. but up till now i have always got it going again by just waiting a little not long ethier at most 3 to 4 min, but i have noticed that when it wont start the theft light is blinking rapidly. i cant find any info in my haynes manual about the P.A.T system??

Most likely it's a bad transceiver, but I would remove the column cover and inspect the wiring to the transceiver. The transceiver is the black round component that is installed around the lock cylinder. check the wiring to the connector on it.

If you want to fix it the true way fallow there steps, If you want a easy fix, you can always get a tuner or predator to turn off that pats system, If you wanted.

These allow you to either enter tuning yourself or have professional tuners upload their custom tunes to the tuner and reflash your ECU.
