any additives or special fluids for a t5?

my t5 works great 1-3 but sometimes a shift to 4th grind, never missed 4th or made any powershifts to it or anything.
at low speeds its fine, but at highers speeds is where it deos it more often, it just comes and goes. the t5 was supposedly rebuilt and it acts like it but its just strange.

what fluids are u guys using? i am using cheapy ATF so i am sure there is something better i could use.

If it doesn't leak, just put in some Synthetic ATF. No need for any 'snake oil' in there.

If it continues to gring, you might have to pull the inpout shaft and try replacing the 4th gear blocker ring and see if that helps.

When i got my car, i put mobil 1 in the motor and tranny. Soon after, my tranny started to grind, 5th gear synchro. I was always good to it, no way to tell how the previous owner was. But after this i drained out the mobil 1 from the tranny and put dino ATF back in it. The 5th gear grinding has mostly disappeared...

odd. I put mobile 1 in my t5 and its worlds better than when I bought it. Quieted my 1-3 whine and eliminated all of the syncro whine except on fast shifts into 5 (and lord knows that I don't do that often). Shifts cleaner and smoothers as well.

I guess its a case of YMMV

almost any parts store like UAP or CarQuest or Autozone should have it.

put dexron III on it and trow 1 super kote (friction modifier) my trans got smooth with that and i always powershift it and no problem!
