The new chip is shifting at 6200 vs 5200. Is 6200 too high?

Do you have a stock valvetrain and cam? If so, that's way too high. You shouldn't take it much past 5500. I think 5200 would have been just fine

Our stock cams fall off after 5200 I think and yes 6200 is way to high assuming you have a stock cam you didn't mention.

Yes, I'm running a stock cam. I got a Diablo Chip today and its holding onto 1st gear to 6000-6200 rpm's. It shifts everything else at 5000-5200 range. It feels like its out of the power band going that high. Kind scared me at first, I got off it just as it finally shifted into 2nd. Theres a high pitch whine too from 52-6200. Any idea what that could be?

Thats assuming the stock tach is accurate. I've heard it can be 5-600 rpm off at that high.

Yeah 6,200 is definatly to high for the short mods on ur list. Cam aside i think what is holding you back is your Intake Manifold. When u get an Edelbrock or trick flow then u can shift that high. Although most people say not to i always run my best E.T. and MPH shifting at 6,000. Thats off my my shift light not a tac so its right.

it's an error tolerance issue, so you can't really know for sure how much it's off unless you compare it directly with an accurate tach. i might be off a little, it might be off a lot, or it might be right on.

on the other hand, considering it shifts through the other gears around 5200 (which is pretty close to where it should shift), it probably is close to 6200 rpm when it reads 6200 rpm.

6200 is way too high. fix it quick before something gets f-ed up!

Apparently. I'm not sure though since they have no record of what they did. Morons! Its going back after this weekends race. It only does this in the Tune 1 position. Tune 2 is fine.
