I dropped a 5.0 and AOD into my 65, then had the tranny rebuilt. The tranny builder tried to adjust the TV cable but had some issues. He told he did the factory adjustment by putting the weight on ect... He said it was shifting early, so he kept adjusting the tv outward. Now he is out of threads, tells me it is better, but still is shifting to early, and he doesn't like it. This guy is suppose to be the best in the area, but I am really starting to have doubts. He Thinks my cable is streched, and wants me to find a differant cable. Do I need to take the car somewhere else? or try to find another TV cable? he is right it does shift early, and doesn't feel right.

is that a stock cable? are you efi or carb? if carb try the lokar cable from summit. you can go to click click racing to get instructions on how to adjust it yourself.

its shifting early just cruising? or WOT?
if its shifting early at WOT that is normal, you would a good aftermarket valvebody to make it shift later.

i picked up a after market valve body but haven't had the car running to play with it. it sounds like the best of both worlds. a shift kit with manual control an still normal auto operation. that might be a good option for your car.

It really doesn't sound like your technician know what he's doing. Adjusting the TV cable by experimentation is a good way to ruin the tranny.

The TV adjustment should be checked with a pressure guage connected to the main line pressure tap on the driver's side of the transmission case.

That is really what I think!! He has a VERY reputable reputation. He builds many of the drag car trannies in the area. So it is kinda confusing that he doesn't know what he is doing.

Yes at WOT it is shifting early. I guess a shift kit is what I need to look at doing.

On either a stock tranny or modified tranny, the TV cable will be set the same?
