Any brake upgrade suggestoins?

I would like to upgrade the brakes on my LX. Ive started tinkering with the engine and suspension, so I need to make sure it can stop in time. What can I do to improve braking without breaking the bank. Surely there are some big name companies that make good rotors/calipers/pads without me having to upgrade to one of the $1500-2000 brake kits.
The car is still a 4 lug, and I really dont plan on swapping to a 5 any time soon unless I have to for some reason.

You can always skip the rears for now and just upgrade the fronts.... Baer sells a 12" kit for 4 lug's. It's around $800.00 or more though.

There are also the standard upgrades you can do like Stainless lines (make sure they will exchange with what ever calipers you choose in the future) Cermaic pads / Hawk pads will also help out a bunch.
