Any difference in 05-07 engines?

I know the spec sheets all say 300hp, but just curious if the newer engines are any stronger than the 05s?

I'm still learning about mustangs (this is my first). I used to be in the F-body camp and the LS1 engine improved over the years even though GM didnt change the reported output numbers. Just curious if Ford has been doing the same thing...

I'm loving my mustang, but it's aching for mods. Looks and interior are way better than my SS was, but I'm missing that extra 1.1L of torque.

HP wise nothing and rigity wise nothing either.

There is a minor difference between the 05-06 and the 07 4.6 in terms of cooling. 05-06 had dual upper hoses off the coolant crossover pipe. 07 reverted to a single hence the differences in supercharger kits for 07+ years.

I read some where that they added more welds to the structure for 07+.. is that true?

this is true. the 07+ are more rigid than the previous years. how much more, i am not sure.

Anyone know if this was done to address a problem and if so, did it work?

I heard they freed up 5 horses to make up for the weight difference. They had to beef up the underside to faciliate the Shelby. I'm not sure where the HP difference came from. I would assume just the tune. Can't remember where I heard that, but it was a pretty reliable source.

I read somewhere that they added some welds to the frame because road racers were reporting problems with the frame's integrity... Don't quote me on it though.

the reason i remember is to provide more support for the 500hp gt500. you cant do it to just a few cars, so they altered the assembly line process for all cars. i dunno if ford ever released an official reason for the welds. anyone want to google all day for it?ill goive you a new CT for the effort, and maybe some other perks.

Who knows how 'true' this is.. but it's something else stating changes in 07+ Stangs.

I heard a rumor at a car show that early 2005 Mustang GT engine blocks were weaker than the later ones. Is there any truth to this?

The 05+ Mustang Aluminum block is the strongest 4.6L aluminum block made to date. It is even stronger than the legendary Teksid 4.6L block. All 05 to current blocks are the same, there is no quality difference between 05 - 08. The only motor difference is the coolant change already mentioned. That is the ONLY change...

The car chassis and other areas, there is a lot of differences...

Let's not forget that the ECU in the 07+ models are different then the 05&06 hence the incompatibility with the tuners etc. etc.

Would you post some links to your sources. I'd read/heard this, too, but I have yet to read this in an article, stated with the certainty with which you have. Thanks.

Thanks for the link -- informative. I do recall reading the MM&FF article discussed, but I'm a little skeptical of some things printed in magazines, if you know what I mean.
